Report a Concern
Help keep the PPTB marketplace safe by flagging any tool, verified or not, that appears to violate community standards.
When to Report a Tool
Use Report a Concern if a tool appears to be:
- Spam — duplicate, low-effort, or misleading listings
- Malicious — unsafe code, malware, or attempts to exfiltrate data or credentials
- Inappropriate — offensive, abusive, or otherwise unsuitable content
- A community values violation — anything that conflicts with the PPTB community standards
- Other — any other concern not covered above (a description is required in this case)
You can report any tool in the marketplace, not just Verified tools. Reporting does not require you to sign in.
How to Report a Tool
The Report a Concern action is available from three places in the desktop app:
- The Tool Detail tab for a tool
- The right-click context menu on an installed tool in the sidebar
- The app's Report a Concern menu item, shown below Tool Feedback when a tool is open
To submit a report:
- Open the report form from one of the entry points above.
- Choose a reason for the report (spam, malicious, inappropriate, community values, or other).
- Add an optional description with more details. A description is required when you choose Other.
- Optionally provide an email address if you're open to being contacted for follow-up.
- Select Submit.
What Information Is Sent
Along with your reason and optional description, PPTB automatically attaches some context to help the review team triage the report:
- The tool's ID, name, and version
- The tool's maturity status (for example, Verified) at the time of the report
- Where the report was filed from (tool detail, sidebar, or app menu)
- Your ToolBox app version and an anonymous per-installation identifier
No personal information is sent unless you choose to provide an email address.
What Happens Next
Once submitted, a report can't be edited or withdrawn from the app. To prevent duplicate submissions, PPTB remembers locally that you've already reported a specific tool and shows an already reported state if you try again. Reports are reviewed by the PPTB team, who may remove a tool's Verified status or take it down from the marketplace if a violation is confirmed.
Privacy
Reports are submitted directly to PPTB's secure backend and can't be read back, listed, or edited from the app after submission. Only the PPTB team can review and act on submitted reports.
