Side-by-Side Tool View
Need to compare data, copy values, or cross-check settings between tools? Side-by-side view lets you keep two tool panes visible at the same time.
Overview
In side-by-side view:
- One tool pane is shown on the left and one on the right
- Each pane can have its own tab group
- You can move tabs between panes
- You can drag the divider to resize pane width
You must have at least two regular tool tabs open before you can activate side-by-side view.
Open Side-by-Side View
- Open at least two tools in the main workspace.
- Right-click the tab you want to place in the right pane.
- Select Split Right.
Power Platform ToolBox creates two panes:
- The selected tab becomes the right pane
- Another open tool tab stays in the left pane
Work with Both Panes
Switch active tool in a pane
- Click a tab in the left tab bar to change the left pane tool.
- Click a tab in the right tab bar to change the right pane tool.
Move tabs between panes
You can move tools in two ways:
- Right-click a tab and select:
- Move to Right Pane
- Move to Left Pane
- Drag and drop a tab from one pane's tab bar to the other.
Resize the Panes
Drag the vertical divider between the two panes:
- Move left to give more room to the right pane
- Move right to give more room to the left pane
The divider position is saved, so your preferred split ratio is reused in future sessions.
Return to Single View
Side-by-side view automatically returns to single view when one pane becomes empty.
Common ways this happens:
- Close the last tab in one pane
- Move the last tab from one pane into the other pane
Tips
- Use side-by-side when validating configuration between environments.
- Keep one pane on a tool and use the other for quick reference tools.
- Combine this with pinned tabs to keep important tools easy to access.
